Sometimes a little heavy handed, sometimes quite tender, but brutally real: Germany's first after war film was produced by DEFA Studios in Berlin-Babelsberg.
Hildegard Knef, who went on to bigger and better things, was the young star who portrays a young Berliner who was in the safety of the countryside during the last months of the war, retuns home to a very different city than the one she left.
Not only an excellent film that portrays Berlin as it really was in 1945 but also a glimpse of the first piece of the propoganda the East Germans were to have under the Soviets.
