This book should be read by every expat-kid latest during college. Saves time and energy on focusing your energy in the right direction and finding "home". You will immediately identify with the main character used as an example within the first six pages of the first chapter.
Once you read this book you will realise that you have your own "tribe" and culture. The members of this culture are very vastly spread geographically and their appearences, skin color, spoken languages, social status may vary but these are your "people" and have the same mindset as you do.
How we all make up our little storys about home/where we come from, as not to scare the locals and fit in better. Why others will not understand us (until maybe also reading this book) completely and how to identify issues and develop a strategy that works for each individual TCK. Why we sometimes scare "normal" people by our empathical skills and "instant friends" capabilities.
So, to sum it up: No, there is nothing "wrong" with you.
Finally.
Locals will not understand this book completely but it will help them understand you if they love you.
